This "Zionism" or even a pre-occupation with Israel as a nation could be said to be inconsistent at best and a denial at worst of the biblical doctrine of "UNconditional Election". God's "chosen", those upon whom He has from all eternity determined to make His own out of Adam's fallen race do NOT fit into some special race, nationality, color nor anything else. God's saving grace is based upon HIS OWN WILL and nothing more added nor reasons given other it was and is His "good pleasure" to do so. Nowhere that I can find that a Jew never mind an entire nation have divine privilege unto salvation. (Jh 1:13; Rom 9:7-9) In fact, the biblical record is perspicuous on the matter of the relationship of Israel to God. The overwhelming majority of them perished in idolatry and unbelief, no differently that the vast majority of Gentiles throughout the world.

IF Israel is persecuted and horribly treated, which it has on numerous occasions. If they are the target of radical lunatics, which they are. If they are in need of help against all these things, by all means they should be given compassion, aid, and help in their defense of life. But NOT because of some fabricated idea that they are "God's chosen race", but because as individuals, they are created in the image of God no less nor more than any other human being on this earth. Salvation is of the LORD and He indiscriminately calls the worst of sinners out of this fallen human race to receive His infinite mercy by bringing them all to Christ by the Spirit's sovereign work.
