The Highway Forums General Discussion Open Forum Where is everybody?

I'm just curious why there hasn't been way more of our members adding themselves to our new The Highway Members Map??? <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/shrug.gif" alt="" /> Only 9 people have put themselves on the map so far, which is rather surprising given the number of members we have here. And, in case you are wondering, the map does encompass the entire world. So, you can add yourself no matter where you live. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/giggle.gif" alt="" />

Well, some people may have missed it. Or maybe that's just the way it is on the Internet. Some people don't want you to know where they live so they can remain anonymous.

It would be great to see photos of each other so we can picture the person we are communicating with.

Funny thing is that every other "Map" for a Board and/or website I have visited was heavily populated. I doubt that Terrorists are roaming around the Internet just hoping to find out where members of The Highway are located.

How do you read the shout-out? I am the one in the middle of the pic, BTW.

The "Shoutouts" are the "captions" that you enter when you add yourself to the map, e.g., your comment about you being the one in the middle. To read them, just scroll down a bit and they are near the bottom of the page. Also, see here about adding more Shoutouts:

The Highway Shoutouts

To add a shoutout, just enter your name, zipcode, and shoutout above.
Your name will only appear once on the map, but you can enter multiple shoutouts the same way.

In other words, you go through the same process to add another comment, aka: "Shoutout", as you do when adding yourself to the map; i.e., using the same box and fill in the fields.

Your right. Most of us are not high profile targets.

I think that what you add is like "Live TV"..... there ain't much you can do about it once it's done. However, I will see if there is an option for the Administrator (that's me <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/giggle.gif" alt="" /> ) that allows "editing" of anything. If there is, I'll see what I can do to get your credibility back!

I have MAJOR issues! I'm such a lurker that I almost didn't add myself to the map because I HAD to add a comment! Is there counseling available?

I was just thinking that if he moved the icon out of the thread and to a permanent place on the entry page or main page maybe more people would see it.
