I meant to leave ExCharisma's YahooGroups page in place to point folks here, but when I set the group to "invitation only," it made the web page invisible to anyone outside the group! That isn't what I wanted at all. But there was no way to change it back... so the YahooGroup is gone. I had meant to delete the group anyway after awhile, but ended up doing it early. So I apologize in advance if someone was going to post a "goodbye, good luck at the Highway" message to the list and got the error message, "Sorry, that group doesn't exist." Oopsie. My bad.

But hey - this new forum is so much better!

Robin,

As they said on Star Trek, "It's dead, Jim." :-)

Hopefully everyone will find the new group alright.

Oh well,

I wouldn't beat yourself up over it, Robin. I thought you did a pretty good job of warning everyone to the change and left pretty good directions in that last email.

I wondered where everyone had gone when I went back to yahoo groups. I googled excharisma and it brought me here. I believe I was known as Amyhisbeloved or DottieRainbow over @ yahoo.

Glad you found us, Amy! Welcome to the Highway! If any of y'all know others from the old Yahoo group that still haven't made their way here, be sure to pass along the info on our new home here.

In His care,
Robin

What are the schools, seminaries that train the charismatic clergy and teachers? Are they mostly self-trained or serve as apprentices; or do they receive formal training?

Most of the Charismatic schools either have someone's name on them (like Jimmy Swaggart Bible College) or some especially appealing Charismatic buzz-word like "Rhema" or "Zoe," or name themselves after an envied gift like the "school of prophecy" or "school of deliverance."

They're diploma mills whose degrees are only accepted by churches under the influence of the teachers that started them.

While as Robin says below the majority are name sake schools there are a couple with notable scholars:

Dr. Wayne Grudem is Research Professor, Bible and Theology at Phoenix Seminary. Though the seminary may not be completely charismatic, some of their teaching is. In addition, Regent University School of Divinity offer degrees such as Doctor of Philosophy in Renewal Studies with an emphasis on the Holy Spirit. Please note that schools such as RTS allow charismatics as well. Though you will not receive charismatic theology it will be Reformed theology and you are free (as long as it is referenced) to quote charismatics, etc.

Moreover, sites such as this provide additional information: http://ccat.sas.upenn.edu/~kbanner/pentec.html
