I defy anyone (other than atheists) not to laugh at this big tongue in big cheek.

True godliness is a sincere feeling which loves God as Father as much as it fears and reverences Him as Lord, embraces His righteousness, and dreads offending Him worse than death~ Calvin

Very funny. Reminds me somewhat of Richard Whateley's Historic Doubts Relative to Napoleon Bonaparte:

http://www.gutenberg.org/etext/18087

O Lord and Master of my life
take from me the spirit of sloth
faint-heartedness,
lust of power
and idle talk.
But give rather the spirit of chastity,
humility,
patience,
and love to thy servant.
Yea, O Lord and King
grant me to see my own errors
and not to judge my brother;
for Thou art blessed unto the ages of ages.
Amen.

Denny,

Dr. Tommyrot reminds me of a teacher who used similar arguments only to have a young student turn the tables on her.

Quote
One day a 6 year old girl was sitting in a classroom paying close attention. The teacher was going to explain evolution to the children as well as prove their is no God. The teacher asked a little boy:

Tommy, do you see the tree outside?

TOMMY: Yes.

TEACHER: Tommy, do you see the grass outside?

TOMMY: Yes.

TEACHER: Go outside and look up and see if you can see the sky.

TOMMY: Okay. (He returned a few minutes later) Yes, I saw the sky.

TEACHER: Did you see God up there?

TOMMY: No.

TEACHER: That's my point. We can't see God because he isn't there. Possibly he just doesn't exist.

A little girl spoke up and asked if she couldask the boy some questions.

The teacher agreed and the little girl asked the boy:

Tommy, do you see the tree outside?

TOMMY: Yes.

LITTLE GIRL: Tommy, do you see the grass outside?

TOMMY: Yessssss!

LITTLE GIRL: Did you see the sky?

TOMMY: Yessssss!

LITTLE GIRL: Tommy, do you see the teacher?

TOMMY: Yes

LITTLE GIRL: Do you see her brain?

TOMMY: No

LITTLE GIRL: Then according to what we were taught today in school, she possibly may not even have one!
How foolish are the arguments of those who say there is no Dawkins. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Wes,

Your story is funny as well as to the point.

I made a living working and supervising others around very large quantities of electricity. In all those years I never actually "saw" it, even once. I knew how beneficial it was to the people who bought it and respected it properly. Once in a while I also saw how "wrathful" electricity could be when mishandled or misdirected, and on a few occasions even leading to the death or severe injury of people I knew.

Just a thought. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/bigglasses.gif" alt="" />
