I just wanted to see what the general opinion of the board members was toward the Puritans. Are they and their movement viewed in a 'favorable' or 'unfavorable' light or merely met with 'indifference.' Were the Purtians loyal to Biblical principles or were they mired in supersition or a bit of both?

Thanks!

I think some of the best writings and traditions in Christendom came from the Puritans. But I also imagine that they may have been poor parents, because in just two generations the Puritan colonies and cities in America gave way to Unitarianism and Liberalism.

I believe the Puritans had a love for God we sadly lack today. We view them as legalistic, but I believe that their lives just portrayed who they were, no legalism involved, at least to the "true" puritans. They did what they did because of their unwavering love for God. I am amused about the debate over the Sabbath and keeping the Lord's day, when as I said in a previous post it just shows a lack of love to even question it, we should want to be with God's people all the time.

Acts 2:46-27
46 And day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart,47 praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved.
The New American Standard Bible. 1986 (Ac 2:46). La Habra, CA: The Lockman Foundation.
