Anyone know of a good church in this area? Radius would include Marietta, Woodstock, Roswell, Canton, or the North Ga. mountains general region.

TIA!

Knowing your Reformed Baptist leanings, I was able to find this which sounds like it might be what you're looking for.

Praying for you (physically as well as spiritually),
Robin

Jacy,

There is Geneva OPC in Woodstock. There is also Redeemer OPC in Doraville, but that's much closer in to Atlanta (I know the pastor there - he was from our presbytery & recently accepted a call to Redeemer). Both of these are committed to the Westminster standards & the regulative principle of worship.

There are also several PCAs in the area, although I can't vouch for any of them specifically. You can look in the directory here if you like.

There is an RPCNA (exclusive psalmody) in Alpharetta: North Atlanta RPC.

So, a few possibilities you could look into, in addition to the listing of Baptists that Robin has provided. grin

Robin, there are a couple of churches on the link you provided that my husband found potentially promising and wants to check out. We did not know they were there. So thanks!

Kyle, I will show your links to him, but I think it would take a lot for him to consider Presby. We did visit one that seemed to be pretty solid, but he couldn't get over taking communion every Sunday with real wine. bravo laugh Who knows, though. If we can't find anything he might rethink. wink

Jacy,

When I was in seminary (WTS; Philly), a dear Reformed Baptist brother was in several of my classes and one day he stood up and said he wanted to announce something important. This happened in our homiletics (preaching) class so there was a bit more freedom to do such things. Anyway, with a very straight face he said, "We Baptists do greater miracles than Jesus did. Jesus turned water into wine, but we Baptists turn wine into grape juice!" The whole class roared including the prof. He was "one of those" who had been freed from his Fundy scruples and was able to poke fun at himself and his former 'life'. wink

May the Lord guide you to a good church where the worship of God is honored and practiced according to spirit and truth and where the Word of God is faithfully preached and practiced.

Of course! Just wanted to be sure you had as many decent options to look into as possible. wink

laugh laugh laugh That's pretty funny, Pilgrim. It is good indeed when you can laugh at your former hang-ups, as I do most frequently. grin

One thing I've learned, though, is that you should never ask a person to violate their own conscience in a given matter. Given time, prayer, and serious study, much of our thinking and positions change, but until it does, we should never violate our conscience before God.

There were other things about that church DH didn't like, and rightly so. There seemed to be a great deal of pressure put on people to "perform" the outward, and a tight scrutiny that appeared to be based on works. Just another form of legalism, really, only from a different group of people. Kind of funny, though, that they would be like that, but have no problems using wine. The twain usually n'er do mix, at least not in our experience. evolution
