Wilcox County Georgia remains one of the counties in the state where the Gideon's are allowed to pass out copies of the bible to fifth graders once a year on school property.May 7, is the day this year.We covet your prayers that the Holy Spirit will prepare hearts as we approach that time.
We are most thankful that our school superintendant is a christian and a staunch supporter but we see the ever increasing work of the devil as other counties around us have closed their doors to the Gideon's work.This is certainly a shame because as we talk to these youngsters we find that for many the bible given to them is the only one in the home.

It is commendable that you are working to distribute Bibles to the young. Of course, it is certainly possible that the Holy Spirit may work directly in the hearts of some to read these Bibles and bring them to Christ. It is far better, which I am sure you will unreservedly agree, that they also are exposed to the right understanding of the truth of Scripture through the efforts of one who is able to teach them, which is the normal means that God has ordained.

Many years ago, I was involved in as a student handing out Bibles at Keene State College and the college would not permit us to distribute these on their property but the City of Keene did give us permission, so as long as we stood on the side-walk (property of the City) we were able to distribute the Bibles. Those distributing the Bibles were all KSC students too. I suppose if we were giving out anything else, there might not have been a problem, but, Bibles were not permitted.
