The title quoted from - https://www.1stheadlines.com/index.htmWow!! How cruel that Governor DeSantis is to immigrants. Wait, NEVER go by headlines whether on leftist or right-wing news sites - Headlines in big bold letters on the linked NBC News web site reads - "Florida immigrants detail their exit following DeSantis immigration law: 'I had to leave'" in smaller lettering beneath the bold headline is -"An undocumented immigrant who built a business and a life in Tampa is one of many who have left. 'They don't want us here,' he said." So, it is "undocumented immigrant", properly those who are here illegally, criminals who do not belong here. Being in the country illegally is criminal. If you have not known anyone personally who has immigrated into the USA legally, ask someone who has, and find out how difficult it is to immigrate here the proper way by hard work. Yet, how does an illegal person set up bank accounts, get a SS card, obtain loans for a car, business, and home insurances to protect the public, etc.? A what if.... an illegal criminal comes into the USA in 1980 with a small child, robs a bank and hides the hundreds of thousands of dollars successfully. That criminal is put in prison. Is his child who is here illegally BY NO CHOICE OF HIS OWN, free later to remain here in the USA and become legal, and use that money obtained criminally? Why should children who came in thus be allowed to remain and benefit from his father's illegal acts? If he has no right to the stolen money, why should he benefit from the illegal residency and income of the father, taken in competition with the men living here legally? Question, can parents who are here illegally, violating God's commands raise morally upright future citizens of the USA? "Thou shalt not steal", "Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor", or "Thou shalt not covet (and use wrong means to obain).." what is rightfully the possession of others! Remember: "Train children in the right way, and when old, they will not stray." (Prov 22:6 NRSV) The educators and politicians who are pushing this illegal immigration are not ignorant. They are de facto Marxists, atheists with a plan to destroy the formerly free, largely 'Christian populated' country, the exceptional USA. Can one here illegally truly practice the "Protestant work ethic" of the former USA? Government has a duty to protect the culture of its citizens, not destroy it! Read a good article about "The Protestant Work Ethic" at Ligonier Ministries - https://www.ligonier.org/learn/articles/protestant-work-ethic

Remember: "Train children in the right way, and when old, they will not stray." (Prov 22:6 NRSV) FYI, that translation and that of just about every other translation is woefully inaccurate. A literal translation of the Hebrew is: "Train up a child after the manner of his own way and when he becomes old he won't depart from it." Put more succinctly, let a child have his way and he will grow up with the same attitude for his entire life, demanding that everyone bow to his ideas.

Pilgrim, that's a novel viewpoint on the verse I'd never heard or read. I find a couple translations that seemingly, could be read that way: "Give instruction to a youth about his way, Even when he is old he turneth not from it." (Prov 22:6 YLT) "It is a proverb: A young man according to his way, even when he is old he will not depart from it." (Prov 22:6 Douay-Rheims) The translator's note in the NET Bible is interesting - "The expression in Hebrew is עַל־פִּי דַּרְכּוֹ (’al-pi darko), which can be rendered “according to his way”; NEB “Start a boy on the right road.” The expression “his way” is “the way he should go”; it reflects the point the book of Proverbs is making that there is a standard of life to which he must attain. Saadia, a Jewish scholar who lived a.d. 882-942, first suggested that this could mean the child should be trained according to his inclination or bent of mind. This may have some merit in practice, but it is not likely what the proverb had in mind. In the book of Proverbs there are only two ways that a person can go, the way of the wise or righteousness, and the way of the fool. One takes training, and the other does not. Ralbag, in fact, offered a satirical interpretation: “Train a child according to his evil inclinations (let him have his will) and he will continue in his evil way throughout life” (J. H. Greenstone, Proverbs, 234). C. H. Toy says the expression means “in accordance with the manner of life to which he is destined (Proverbs [ICC], 415). W. McKane says, “There is only one right way – the way of life – and the educational discipline which directs young men along this way is uniform” (Proverbs [OTL], 564). This phrase does not describe the concept perpetuated by a modern psychological interpretation of the verse: Train a child according to his personality trait." "Train a child in the way that he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it." (Prov 22:6 NET2.1)

Methinks the long history of the nation of Israel illustrations the veracity and the salient warning of the translation which I have embraced. How so? The nation of Israel was blessed by God in that He set them apart and gave them the 'oracles' and the 'law' and the 'prophets' yet the overwhelming majority of them died in unbelief and went after other gods. Remember, "not all Israel is Israel"! The majority of the Kings and leaders rarely, if ever, never chastised their respective citizens for their idolatry and not following the law of God. In fact, most led the way to perdition. IF your child is one for whom God has from eternity set His love and foreordained to be saved by grace through faith in the Lord Christ, then most certainly that proverb applies. Only the godly benefit from right doctrine and exhortation to right living. But the opposite is always true.... let a child have his own way and he will always think and act in that manner.

Concerning Proverbs 22:6 Quite some time ago, my pastor was giving a word of caution about that verse. He was saying that many people have taken this as a hard and firm promise. When their adult child walks away from the faith; they are so devastated, that they lose faith in the words of Scripture. Proverbs are wisdom literature and as such it is not a hard and fast promise. Rather it shows a principle that we as believers need to follow as parents.
I do not want this however to take away from the general truth of the message. The Left will go to great lengths to demonize anything they do not agree with.

And I have pointed out in the past a couple times here that the literal Hebrew is different than many of the English translations. It actually reads, Train up a child after his own way and when he grows old he won't depart from it. Thus it is a warning against not disciplining your children for their natural selfishness will dominate their life rather than living under the law of God.
