OK, folks. I'm about to demonstrate my ignorance about a theological matter. What are apologetics? I always thought they were bad things, because of something I read a while back (don't remember what, so don't ask). Thought they were maybe people who apologized for being Christian. Now, from perusing these here forums I find that they might not be all bad. Please help!

Apologetics is the branch of theology that is concerned with the defense of Christian doctrines. Basically JF2 it is giving reasons for what you believe.
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: (1Pe 3:15)

A great book for this is: Always Ready by Dr. Greg L. Bahnsen

Look at it as saying, "I'm sorry your wrong."

Well I suppose that would depend on the emphasis. If I were to emphasize the your wrong part as in: I'm sorry, YOUR WRONG! (make sure you have a big smile on your face at the time) it could be interesting. But then again if you said it an even toned "I'm sorry your wrong, here is what I believe and why I believe it." It would probably generate a different response. I think that the key is the with gentleness and meekness clause.
