Hello to all!
Someone told me about this site so thought I'd drop in.

Just to let everyone know right off the bat, I believe God is absolutely sovereign in our salvation.

I really like reading "Bondage of the Will" by Martin Luther.

Any of you completely understand Jonathan Edwards on the will? What a guy!

I like to say: "Many are called but few are chosen" does not say that "Many are called but few choose."

Anyway, I hope to have nothing but friendly dialog here.

I remain,
Chosen in Christ before the foundation of the world,
Zoe

Hi Wes,
Well, "if the Lord is willing and we should be living" my daughter and I hope that He allows us to go to the mall today and finish up on purchasing some gifts from the money He gave us from the job He gave me so that we can purchase the gifts that He already knows need to be purchased for my twin brother's daughter and son who happened to be born without their willing it some time ago. Whew!

Knowing that "The Lord gives to all, life and breath and all" (Acts 17), I see He has given me my breakfast today which was comprised of oatmeal and milk. That was a pretty neat invention He did in inventing oats before anyone else smile. He doesn't even have any patents on any of His inventions because no one can duplicate what He invented...the sun, moon, stars, earth, man etc. etc.

A friend just stopped by (obviously by God's sovereignty) before He had me brush my teeth (maybe so they'd be offended and not come back per His counsel?) but hopefully He is just teaching the person that we should love someone with good or bad breath. :)

I just took a deep breath. Even that small thing extended my life. God had me breathe that breath for "He gives to all, life and breath and all." Funny how even the seemingly insignificant things in life have such far reaching implications. If He did not give it to me to breath just then I would have either passed out or died. We are to thank God for all things, the Bible says. So why would we thank Him if He did not give us all that we have including the good and the bad? We don't thank someone for not giving us something. "All is out of, through and for God." It is so true! Even me just now typing that is out of God and the result will be for God.

Anyway, I hope you don't think me weird for posting such things but you did ask! he he :)

While I thank God I'm not a robot, I do thank God that He formed me from a lump of clay for His work for "He is operating in you to will as well as to work for the sake of His delight."

Looking 4ward 2 some nice and interesting posts here.

I see there are some Arminian brothers whom God has made it so that they think they have free wills. They are still beloved brothers whom the Lord dearly loves and I love too!

Peace to all of you here!

Zoe = life

Thanks for the welcome, John.
Yes, the 7,000 that did not bow to the image of Baal. God specifically chose each one of them to not bow and it was a gracious act of God that they didn't. I wonder if those 7,000 realized it was all due to God's grace that they didn't bow? At least we know that should we not bow it is due to God so we can be thankful to Him rather than thanking ourselves.

Peace,

Zoe

Hi Bladestunner316!
Yes, so very true!

I like to tell people this:

Since God is sovereign and all our acts are caused, man is not responsible for his acts for they could not be avoided. They had to occur.
If free-will is true then our acts are uncaused, they just happened and so could not be avoided and so again, man is not responsible.

The Bible never says that man is responsible. It does say man must give an account (word/logos) concerning what occurred but never does it say man is responsible. God alone is responsible. He is sovereign.

Have I opened up a can of worms here?

Blessings and peace to you!

Zoe

True godliness is a sincere feeling which loves God as Father as much as it fears and reverences Him as Lord, embraces His righteousness, and dreads offending Him worse than death~ Calvin
