There may be some cities in the U.S., more likely in California, that such a thing could happen. But this happening in Canada doesn't surprise me which has laws that require one to "find the nearest means of escape" vs. responding in self-defense, especially with deadly force. For example, if you walked in your front door of your house and saw your wife/daughter being raped, the law requires that you run out of the house and call the police. Not so in 99.99% of the U.S. We have the Castle Doctrine and Stand Your Ground laws or both existent throughout the country. So, in the above example, or even if someone breaks into your domicile, you are allowed by law to use deadly force. These laws even extend to allowing the use of deadly force off your personal property and if the attack is against another person. These two laws are consistent with biblical teaching. evilgrin
