http://www.cwg.org/

I received a letter today from a lost friend who has found some "value" in the book, Conversations with God! Since, it is not one of my books in my library, I found the site above, which I have not yet begun researching. He sent me two pages 248-251 in particular which appear to have a pantheistic flavor ("everything is or is becoming God") and hints of Hinduism and Buddhism to them. Since, I will be meeting with this friend I thought it may be good to share your insights of what is at the site and some ideas for weaving the Gospel in and out with him. Any way your views here would be appreciated...nothing happens by accident now does it, thus I see that an opportunity exists.........

No, nothing is by accident :)

There is a good commentary on this by Dr. Albert Mohler. If you go to http://www.truthontheline.com/archive.html and scroll down to 9/4/2002, you will find an audio message, as well as a page of resources.

True godliness is a sincere feeling which loves God as Father as much as it fears and reverences Him as Lord, embraces His righteousness, and dreads offending Him worse than death~ Calvin

I appreciate that.

I already had one meeting with this individual and he is just drifting from one "cultic" idea to another. After speaking with him I found he is more of a humanist and thus I have begun piercing some questions at him in this direction. What I left him with this week was these Platonic questions we are going to discuss this coming week:

1. If man is the measure of everything in your concept of things, and man throughout experience is proven to be wrong at times, how can man truly be the measure of all things?

2. If man is truly the measure of things, and I think you are wrong about your philosophy of life, then are not you wrong?

3. If man is truly the measure of things then why do you attempt to follow the teachings of other humanists?[/LIST]

Beware of this book!

Subject: Parent-grandparents, Christian schools beware of this BOOK: Conversations with God

Dr. James Dobson talked about this book twice this week. It is devastating and parents and Christian school need to be aware of this. Do pass it on to your pastor/church/e-mail addressees. Parents Beware very disturbing information. Please read. Parents, Grand parents, Aunts, Uncles, Please pay special attention not only to the what your kids watch on TV and in movie theaters and the music they listen to but we must also be alert regarding the books they read... Two particular books, Conversations with God and Conversations with God for Teens, written by Neil D. Walsh. sound harmless enough by their titles alone.

These books have been on the New York Times best sellers list for a number of weeks these publications makes truth of the statement, "Don't judge a book by its cover/title". The author purports to answer various questions from kids using the "voice of God" However, the "answers" that he gives are not biblically-based and go against the very infallible word of God. For instance (and I paraphrase), when a girl asks the question "why am I a lesbian?" His answer is that she was born that way because of genetics (just as you were born right-handed, with blue eyes, etc.). Then he tells her to go out and "celebrate" her differences. Another girls poses the question "I am living with my boyfriend. My parents say that I should marry him because I am living in sin. Should I marry him?" His reply is "Who are you sinning against? Not me, because you have done nothing wrong.

Another question asks about God's forgiveness of sin. His reply - I do not forgive anyone because there is nothing to forgive. There is no such thing as right or wrong and that is what I have been trying to tell everyone do not judge people. People have chosen to judge one another and this is wrong because the rule is "judge not lest ye be judged".

And the list goes on. Not only are these books the false doctrine of devils but in some instances even quote (in error) the Word of God. These books (and others like it) are being sold to school children (The Scholastic Book Club) and we need to be aware of what is being fed to our children.

Our children are under attack so I pray that you be sober and vigilant about teaching your kids the Word of God and guarding their exposure to worldly mediums because our adversary, the devil, roams about as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). And how many of us know that lions usually hunt for the slowest, and weakest and YOUNGEST OF ITS PREY.

When I survey the wondrous cross on which the Prince of Glory died, my richest gain I count but loss and pour contempt on all my pride. - Isaac Watts
