Just to give anyone interested the heads up. I just received word that John MacArthur will be on Larry King Live this coming monday night, 12/6. Check your local CNN listings.

The topic is suppose to be on the person of Jesus Christ. At this time, I am unsure who else will be involved in the discussion. However, knowing the track record of the high caliber of guests who often appear on King's program for these dialogs, I am sure he will have on the panel, along with John, a rabbi, some hindu monk, a liberal gay minister, an anti war protester and Kid Rock.

Keep in mind that this schedule is tenative and could be changed with out notice at the last minute. So, if Kofi Anan decides to give King an exclusive interview as to how he was duped into the Food for Oil program by the French president, more than likely John will be cancelled.

Just one update. I received word today that Johnny Mac is to be on King's show NEXT monday night (12/13/04). My source misheard the annoucement.
So, please adjust your viewing schedule. Again, the topic is suppose to be on the Person of Jesus Christ, which will make for some excellent opportunities for John to proclaim the gospel and challenge any naysayers who will be on the panel.
Still no word who will be on with John, but knowing the type of guests the Larry King production folks tap for these theological discussions, I am sure it will be John matched up against: The Hell's Angels Califorina chapter president, Shelby Spong, a Unitarian Muslim, Paul "Pee Wee Herman" Rubuens, and Rick Warren.

Schedules may change at the last minute also.

Anyone interested in this announcement, allow me to alert you to one final change.
The latest info I received today (from John in the pulpit during the announcement time) is that the LKL show decided to tape the program on the 13th of December and air it on the 24th (that's Christmas eve folks). So, if you were making plans to watch live on monday the 13th, I apologize. You will have to wait a couple of weeks. If John talks about any interesting tidbits on the behind-the-scenes stuff, I will be sure to pass them along.

One new thing. The panel of experts on the life of Christ have been announced:
They are in no particular order, besides Johnny Mac,

Deepak Chopra (oh, brother)

Father Michael Manning from the LA Diocese (he sort of looks like Howdy Doody and advocates this Jesus loves everyone, no one ever goes to hell gospel)

Dennis Prager, secular radio show host (Oddly, Prager, a conservative Jew and a clear, articulate spokesman for many things biblical, will probably be the only one in some agreement with John on the person of Jesus)

and John Meecham, editor of Newsweek Magazine who recently wrote the article on The Birth Of Christ.

All but Mr. Meecham will be in the studio with Larry.

Hmmmmmm, the situation you described sorta reminds me of Daniel in the lion's den. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> My only hope and prayer is that MacArthur will be given ample time to speak both positively about the person of our LORD Jesus Christ and that he will be given the opportunity to refute/challenge the dissenters; those who stand as enemies of the Most High God.

I'm also curious about Larry King. What is the "word" concerning his spiritual state? Does John have any "gut feelings" or perhaps even more concerning him on this matter?

(Fred) Actually, last week we had our Christmas party for the volunteers I serve here at the ministry. John always comes and does a little impromptu Q and A. Someone asked him about the LKL show and John went on about 20 minutes talking about all the stuff we do not see during the commercial break. John stated that Larry is "spiritually curious." He calls himself an agnostic Jew. He has said he wants to believe in God but just doesn't have enough info to make an informed decision. Apparently, a daughter from a previous marriage (Larry's been married 7 times) is a genuine Christian and has been challenging her father. Also, there are a couple of assistant producers who are Christians who love John and have given Larry one of MacArthur's study Bibles. According to them, Larry loves it, because John explains the text. Originally, back after 9/11, these two producers encouraged Larry to invite John to come on and address "where was God in 9/11?" Larry was so impressed with the way John handled himself, that he has taken a shine to him. Also, in the words of the producers, Larry likes John because he is "predictable." In other words, he is, in Larry's mind, the typical fundamentalist that can be the lightening rod for the rest of the panel.

The one show that still sticks in Larry's mind, as well as John's, was the program dealing with homosexual marriage and the San Francisco mayor handing out gay marriage certificates. John was on the program, in studio with Larry and a gay activist named Chad Allen, best known for the son on the show "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman." Before the program began, Larry encouraged "intense disagreement." That didn't happen, and what folks assumed was going to be a big fight turned into John sharing the transforming message of the gospel and Chad getting teary eyed when John said, "You do want to go to heaven don't you?" To which Chad stated "Well, yeah." Then John went on to explain the terms of gaining heaven by turning from sin and embracing Christ. It was a rather impactful exchange, and off air, John was saying that Chad was clearly convicted by the Spirit and expressed interest in our Church (he hasn't come around to my knowledge, however). He is at odds with his parents, who are said to be "christians" and are grieved by his lifestyle choices and have been confronting him about it. At any rate, Larry told John that in all his years of doing these sorts of interviews with two radically opposite points of view has he ever seen a volatile situation handled in such a loving manner. John even touched Chad a couple of times when addressing him personally; that is certainly something that doesn't normally happen.

God has just given this unique opportunity for John to minister to a world wide audience that he would not have otherwise. He has consistently done well against all his opponents, especially that Chopra screwball. In fact, he is sort of a hypocrite, because he has stated that he never wants to be on the program with John ever again because he is so bigoted. However, apparently, he is coming on, unless he backs out at the last minute. If you watch the program, there may be some good stuff between those two.
