I may have a stupid question. The RCC has different orders such as the Jesuits, and several others which none are coming in mind at the moment. In reality are they basically different faith groups, for a lack of a better term?

I'm not sure how it plays out in all cases, but there are definitely theological differences between, say, the Jesuits (who, concerning grace, are slightly modified Molinists) and the Dominicans (who, concerning grace, are Thomists). You may read here for an overview from a Catholic perspective.
