Just wondering if Spurgeon said anything about Wilberforce?

Google. When I did that I only hit upon Spurgeon and a Bishop Wilberforce. Maybe the bishop is William Wilberforce's son. I guess I need to google deeper.

What was Wilberforce's theological bent? I saw there they call him an anglican evangelical. What did that mean in his day? Did he lean toward Methodism?

Well, what I know of Wilberforce is from the movie, "Amazing Grace", which isn't what I would call a very reliable source. giggle

However, there is more information online here:

- Wikipedia

- Christianity Today

- Encyclopedia Britannica Biography

A quick examination shows that Charles H. Spurgeon was born a year after William Wilberforce died. So the likelihood that the two ever interacted together is nil. But I am sure that he read about his exploits and maybe even Wilberforce's book A Practical View of the Prevailing Religious System of Professed Christians in the Higher and Middle Classes of This Country Contrasted With Real Christianity.

Just in case you have not found out what you were looking for; Phillip Johnson's Spurgeon Archive is the best site that I know of concerning CH Spurgeon on the web.
