NASA: World temp up 1½° since 1850
March 20, 2012 by Don Surber

Global warming is real and it is here. Over the last 162 years, the world temperature — as measured by the United States government — has risen a whopping 0.75° Celsius — or 1½° Fahrenheit since 1850.

Wow, I am sweating bullets.

The weather in Poca, West Virginia, today has radically changed since Putnam County was founded in the 19th century. Warm weather has crept up, changing our clime. The weather today is more like the weather of Hamlin, West Virginia, some 20 miles south. At this rate, in 15,000 years, it will be like Acapulco but without the Gulf.

Global Warming has been thoroughly debunked over the past year or two. It has been exposed as a fraud both in the data used and especially by the individual(s) who foisted it on the public. Now, it is a political debacle, a cash cow for all those companies who jumped on the bandwagon by the encouragement of government. But even though it is a total farce, it isn't going to go away any time soon. There just too much money at stake and politicians are allergic to eating crow. evilgrin

The way this issue ,as a whole, mirrors Rapturism is a gas(pun intended).

Illogical, sensational and fashion driven-

Glaciers retreat- sure proof of global warming

Glaciers advance - sure proof of global warming

War in the Middle East -sure proof of the soon coming rapture

Peace in the Middle East - sure proof of the soon coming rapture

I reckon the absurdly large portion of this driven by fashion ,as opposed to science, will aid in its demise. Statism its self will always be with us but this particular version will be aking to 1970s bellbottoms. No one will even want it known that they had anything to do with it. And just maybe the teens will be remembered as the decade we saw the idiot twins Rapturism and anthropogenic global warming pushed back to lunatic fringe.

But y'know... I thought "Rapturism" was what all Christian churches taught and always had taught. I didn't know there was any other view of eschatology until I studied a little church history!

That's because the Dispie-Premil view is preached from the rooftops while the much older historical views are seldom even discussed in Reformed churches. The "Rapturist" crowd hosts "bible prophecy conferences" and "end times seminars" and stuff all the time all over the place. And Reformed churches don't place the emphasis they should, I think, on Christ's return.

You do know, of course, that "every self-respecting Calvinist is a Premillennialist" don't you? At least that is what John MacArthur claims. Kim Riddlebarger has written a few choice words in response to MacArthur's ludicrous remarks in his blog which you can read here: John MacArthur on Calvinism, Dispensationalism, Israel and Hermeneutics: A Few Comments.

You hit the proverbial nail on the head when you mentioned that there is too much money at stake.I'm in the air conditioning business and we in this industry have been taken for a ride by our goverment with no round trip available.
The year of the Montreal Protocol, where it was suddenly discovered that the old hole in the ozone was caused by HCFC'S, a subclass of greenhouse gases, there was an immediate outcry to make everyone associated with the ac business liable in some manner. We had to not only send our employees to classes where they learned how to capture the little boogers before they could escape and make that hole larger but we had to go also because everyone who gives more than a cursory glance at a ac unit must have the "green card".
R-11 refrigerant at that time was somewhere around 1.30 cents per pound.Over the next three years that cost increased to more than 20.00 dollars per pound, all of the excess being in the form of taxes placed on that refrigerant.Once R-11 was legislated out of existence our representatives looked around for the next cash cow.Well, they found it in R-22,the refrigerant that is in almost every residential ac unit manufactured in the last thirty years. We are now at about the midpoint in the tax cycle for R-22.There is a replacement freon(r-410a)that now is going in to all residential units.School is still out on this refrigerant as we are seeing much higher operating pressures that might lead to premature leaks and shorter life spans on the equipment.
This farce has caused us to spend untold thousands of dollars in training, recovery machines and extra labor to keep logs on all of this mess.
Sorry for the rant but I just had to when I saw this thread.

Since I learned the way Pentecost secretly performed an about face wrt the M13 parables in his tome 'Things To Come' I've had a better understanding of the ethical challenges facing DF apologists.
