Lately, about every third time I return to the forum I am log out. Is it just me or have others been experiencing the same?

Lately, about every third time I return to the forum I am log out. Is it just me or have others been experiencing the same? John, I've had the same problem for some time... -RJ It's a 'glitch' in the software that was supposed to have been fixed in the latest update, which was applied here. It seems it mainly affects only IE users, of which I am one too. What I do is when I am actually able to login and stay logged in; sometimes I have to login in several times before it will 'stick', is to delete my cookies and log back in again: Go to "My Stuff > Cookies > (click) Expire Cookies". You will be logged out automatically and then you can log back in. It's not a permanent fix by any means, but I find it does stretch the interval of the log out problem. The problem is well-known by the developer but whether or not it is going to be addressed is unknown at this time.

I also have that problem. I log onto The Highway from 2 computers and my phone so I thought it might have something to do with that. I guess not. It is a headache but my log in is simple enough for me to remember so I can live with it. What I did learn is that when I do a search from the web site and go to a page, I am logged out and I have to copy the url before logging in so that after I log in, I can put the url in and go back to that page. Otherwise, I get logged out again.

I wonder if it's just an issue of expiring cookies. Rarely but sometimes, the-highway.com "forgets" who I am and requires a log-in. Perhaps if y'all check your browser settings? You may want your browser to retain cookies for this site indefinitely or until they expire rather than deleting cookies when you close the browser. Some browsers delete them anyway even when the correct options are selected, so I would be curious to know if this is an IE thing or if it happens in other browsers.

1. It is a known issue with IE, although it does happen occasionally with other browsers. 2. The current version of the software being used here changed the expiration time frame from 'indefinite' to 'one week'. This was done, if I understand the rationale, to resolve the unwanted log out/login problem that plagued particularly, IE in the past. [note: obviously, it didn't work as hoped]. 3. My method of dealing with this aggravation is to persist in logging in until I am able to access "My Stuff > Cookies" and delete the current 'cookie' on my PC. Doing so will automatically log you out and you must login again. Sometimes it takes a couple of tries and even a reboot before it 'sticks'. Other than that, I don't have anything more to offer, sorry. Remember, I'm in the same boat. I do resent people telling me that I should stop using IE; that horrible invention of Microsoft, and use a 'real browser'. I happen to like IE and it works as well as if not better than the others I have tried, at least for my purposes. The logout problem does not happen on other boards that are using different software, so it is definitely not an IE problem.

This should be resolved now to some extent.
