Where in the Bible do the pre-tribulation get their doctrine on the Rapture? I heard that its from omission in that the church is no longer spoken of starting in Revelation 4 or is it 5.

However, is that the case because those ascribing to that view asserts that they take the Bible literally and accuse the a-mills of spiritualizing the Bible.

Any clarifications?

The view I think you are thinking of is Rev 4:1--the door.

Here is one example (note there are many variations to it within different churches) of a Timeline Chart and here is its explaination.

If you desire to learn more about this false view you can see Ice's site (probably has the best pro articles on it of any ... ): Pre-Trib Research Center

Joe, thanks for the links

Is this the best they can do? I do not see literal interpretations in the Romans 5:9 verse about wrath and the 1 Thess 4 passage as they claim. They are adding-to in both of those instances.

Thanks, Jeff.

A couple of follow-up questions.

1) Was there a pre-trib view before the dispensatinal doctrine?

2) What about the mid-trib view. Why?

3) Do all historic pre-mill hold to the post-trib view?

John C.,
The other replies may have mentioned Matthew 24:40,41 "Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left." Back when I was a Hal Lindsey-reading pretribulation dispensationalist, that was one of my proof texts.

I've always found it amusing that they conveniently overlook the fact that the comparison in that verse is being made to the days of Noah when the evil were swept away and the chosen were left behind.

"Nothing can be more insulting to God than to presume to examine His Word, professing a desire to learn His mind, when we have already settled to our own satisfaction what it will say."

Another article on The Highway that I had forgotten about can be found here: The "Coming" and its Precursors, by Geerhardos Vos.
