Actually adam was made in the image and likeness of God as a elect, only the elect are made in that image by being in that seed..

When abel was killed and seth was born, it was two things reaffirmed..#1..That Man was made in the image and likeness of God gen 4:

25And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.

26And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD.

gen 5:

1This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him;

2Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.

3And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, and after his image; and called his name Seth:

This is important because cain who was the firstborn wasnt of the seed of the godly line which was when men was made in Gods image and likeness..

You see, eve knew that her manchild cain was not of the godly elect seed, but a punishement to her and adam for their fall, and that now, they would not only populate the earth with the godly elect seed, but the reprobated seed of satans seed as well..This is why God told her he was going to multiply her conception and sorrow..

Now the elect only have the image of God restored [fellowship] with new birth from above..col:

10And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

The only sembalence of the image of God the reprobate has, is physical appearance, but they will never have the capacity to commune with God in a covenantal relationship like adam did in the beginning and the born again elect have presently..

So, no..the unconverted of mankind, technically are not in the image of God, that now comes through Jesus christ..
